This blog was created to share my experiences, photos, tips, and products for building a custom cooler radio. I have found many videos and a few blogs on the matter, but not to the detail I would have liked. This is my mission. Enjoy!

Custom Cooler Build - Close Ups
Custom Cooler Build - Close Ups
(Additional Wiring, Products, and Construction Shots)
My only thing im havin a huge problem with is sealing up the divider everything i have used doesnt seem to wanna seal up so the water will stay inly on one side
I have not had the battery run out on me yet. It lasts a long time. I believe around 8+ hours.
Sealing this type of the cooler is one of the top 2 challenges. The other being fitting all components on in the one side.
I have had a few leaking issues that i have had to resolve. The newest and most productive product i have started using is something very similiar to this bit.ly/Q4XAvr . It is a dual auto/marine sealant adhesive from HOme Depot. Ill write back with the exact product.

This is the actual products i am now using http://www.amazon.com/2-8-Ounce-Silicone-Rubber-Marine-Sealant/dp/B000PSB1VY/ref=as_li_tf_mfw?&linkCode=wey&tag=mycuscoorad-20
Glad to see people trying out their skills and building cooler radio. It is very true regarding how to properly seal a cooler. I have found that the 3m marine fast cure 5200 works awesome. My only warning to anyone using this product is where ever you put it, it will not come off, and finally, it's expensive. Check out my video on youtube user name Fernando S., good luck.
I need a little more explanation on how the main battery charges. Can you just leave the cooler plugged into your car cigarette lighter and as you drive, shut the car off and on and drive again it charges?
How long does the battery last

ReplyDeleteDid you cut off the plug and hard wire the wagan tech directly to the switch and battery, or did you use an adapter?
ReplyDeleteDid you ever get an answer to this question?
